I have a 1080 and while it’s one of the best graphics card out there it’s probably no match for EC2 P instances equipped with multiple Tesla GPUs. Is it ok to just use my 1080 since setting up those instances seems rather complicated?
It would be fine as long as training won’t take you too much time to wait!

Your GTX1080 is going to be plenty for what you need. It’s quite a beast with 8 TFlops. Unless you do something very compute intensive, this should be good (your dorm room might get a bit noisy from the fan running, though 
).
